Delete your Shuye account

For the Shuye (书页) app on iPhone, iPad and Android, published by Shuye.

Deleting your account removes everything Shuye stores for you, on our servers and on your phone, immediately and permanently. It can’t be undone. It does not cancel a Premium subscription; see below.

On iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Shuye and make sure you’re online.
  2. Tap the Me tab.
  3. Scroll to Account and tap Delete account. (If you never signed in, it’s called Delete my data.)
  4. Read the summary, type DELETE in the box, and tap Delete account (or Delete my data).
  5. If you signed in with Apple, the button says Confirm with Apple to delete. Tap it and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. This lets us also remove Shuye’s link to your Apple ID.
  6. Shuye deletes your data and starts again at the welcome screen.

On Android

  1. Open Shuye and make sure you’re online.
  2. Tap the Me tab.
  3. Scroll to Account and tap Delete account (or Delete my data if you never signed in).
  4. Read the summary, type DELETE in the box, and tap Delete account (or Delete my data).
  5. Shuye deletes your data and starts again at the welcome screen.

Deleting needs a connection. If you’re offline, nothing is removed and the app asks you to try again when you’re online.

What gets deleted, and when

All of it, as soon as you confirm:

  • your account, and its link to Sign in with Apple or Google;
  • your lessons and the page photos stored with them;
  • saved words, flashcards and your full review history;
  • words you marked as known, your writing practice, and the dialogues you finished;
  • explanations and your follow-up questions;
  • settings, study totals and Progress history, daily usage counts and usage analytics;
  • your Premium status record;
  • every link you shared, which stops working.

The app then clears the same data from the phone you deleted it on. If the account was also signed in on another phone or tablet, that device stops syncing and asks you to sign in again; its local copy stays on it until you choose Continue without account there or delete the app.

What is kept

  • Nothing in your Shuye account. We keep no copy, apart from daily database backups (kept up to 7 days) and short-lived server logs, which roll over and disappear on their own.
  • Purchase records held by Apple or Google. These belong to the stores’ systems, and the stores keep them under their own rules. We also ask RevenueCat, the service that confirms subscriptions, to delete its customer record when you delete your account.
  • Copies others made from links you shared before deleting. Those copies belong to the people who added them.

If you have Premium

Deleting your account doesn’t cancel your subscription, which is billed by Apple or Google. Cancel it first, or it will keep renewing:

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Shuye → Cancel Subscription.
  • Android: Google Play → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Shuye → Cancel.

The delete screen in the app has a Manage subscription link that opens the right page.

Can’t open the app?

If you’ve deleted the app, lost the phone, or can’t get into Shuye, email us and we’ll delete the account for you:

  • Use the subject “Delete my Shuye account”.
  • Tell us whether you signed in with Apple or Google, and the email address shown for that sign-in (for Apple’s “Hide My Email”, the relay address ending in privaterelay.appleid.com).
  • We’ll confirm the request comes from the account’s owner, delete everything listed above, and reply when it’s done, within 2 business days of confirming.

Never signed in? An anonymous account has no email or name attached, so we can’t find it from an email. If you still have the app, use Delete my data in Me → Account. If the app is already gone, its data can’t be linked to you.
